HOW TO GET YOUR CAR SERVICED ON MOTABILITY?

Cars need attention to keep them working and we all know that we would be lost without a car! But how does getting your car serviced work with the Motability Scheme? Let me try and answer some questions for you.

WHAT IS A MOTABILITY SCHEME CAR?

So my car is part of the Motability scheme, which I have spoken about here: https://www.nqpc.co.uk/top-tips-for-motorbility

WHEN DOES YOUR CAR NEED SERVICE?

A car should be serviced yearly and usually, the car provider will remind you when the service is due.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CAR SERVICE?

Your car will be checked over by mechanics to ensure that it is running safely and efficiently - tyre treads/wear, brake pads, gearbox, clutch e.c.t.

DOES IT COST MONEY?

Usually, your service would cost money and would vary depending on the age and size of the car. However, with the Motability Scheme, the service is included within the lease. You should take it to the manufacturer that supplied the car and they will have it listed as a Motability car, therefore there is no charge.

WHAT IF REPAIRS ARE NEEDED?

The company providing the service should call to confirm what repairs are needed and ask if you are happy for them to do them.

Under the Motability scheme, this will not cost anything extra.

If the repairs are going to take a long time a replacement car can be arranged with the necessary adaptations.

There are certain repairs that they will not do as part of the service, but the provider will explain this to you and the options you have for further repairs.

WHAT IF I NEED NEW TYRES?

The service provider will not replace tyres for you. However, Kwik Fit is partnered in the Motability Scheme. So if your tyres need replacing you can book in with your local Kwick Fit garage and they will change the tyres for free. This process can take about 1 hour depending on how busy the garage is.

I hope this has helped you, whether you’re thinking about getting a Motability car or already have one and are concerned about how to look after it. If you have any further questions do not hesitate to get in touch.
